I plan to upgrade several hundred NotesClients from R4.65 to 6.5. Of course there should be as less as possible Interaction from the users during the upgrade. Until R6.03 I achieved this by creating a Transformation File for the Microsoft Installer (*.msi File) and creating a Batch File which calls the Microsoft Installer in quiet Instalation Mode. After the Users clicked on the "Upgrade" Button in the "Upgrade Notification" E-Mail there was no more Interaction from the User needed. Notes shuts down, the new Version installed in Quiet Mode, and after the Installation finished Notes R6.5 started again without any trouble. But now with R6.5 the Installer deletes the old notes.ini File before installing the new Version, and when the R6.5 Clients start up for the First time all information about Username, Server, Proxy etc. has to be entered again. How can I automate this task? Or will I have to manually finish the Upgrade on all our Clients? Why can“t the Installer simply use the information already stored in the notes.ini on the upgraded Computer?
